The Foundation aims to empower and support youth by assisting schools, youth development organisations and sports clubs in the communities in which we operate. There is also a sharp focus on empowering the youth to become economically active, create sustainable livelihoods and become respectable members of society.
Sea Harvest Foundation Bursary Programme: Since 2016, the Sea Harvest Foundation has awarded bursaries to more than 140 tertiary students from the communities in which the Sea Harvest Group operates to promote education.
Surfing South Africa: The Sea Harvest Foundation provides funding to Surfing South Africa to ensure that youth from previously marginalised areas are given the opportunity to learn how to surf and compete at provincial, national and even international level.
School sports and equipment: The Sea Harvest Foundation partners with schools in local communities to promote a healthy, active lifestyle amongst youngsters who might otherwise be tempted to turn to drugs and alcohol. The initiatives include life skills programmes with a focus on building character and mental strength.
EcoBrick Exchange: The Sea Harvest Foundation collaborated with the EcoBrick Exchange and scholars to collect single-use plastic from Bluewater Bay beach. The collected plastic were filled into 2-litre bottles and youth were then trained to build structures using the filled bottles.
Kleinzee Centre for Learning and Development: On Mandela Day 2019, a group of Sea Harvest employees travelled from Saldanha to Kleinzee in the Northern Cape to assist with much-needed renovations at the Boys’ Hostel, as well as to deliver new bedding for the Girls’ Hostel, and install a television screen in the Resource Classroom.
