Press Release – 18 June 2026
SALDANHA: With just 48 hours to go, anticipation is building for the inaugural Saldanha Sea Harvest Foundation Health Run, taking place on Saturday, 20 June 2026. The landmark event will feature a 21.1km half-marathon, 10km road race and 5km fun run/walk and marks the start of a three-year partnership between the Sea Harvest Foundation Not-for-Profit Company (NPC) and Top Events. dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and community upliftment.
More than 1,500 participants are expected to participate in the event, including over 250 Sea Harvest employees, demonstrating a strong commitment to wellbeing alongside broader community participation. The Health Run is not only a celebration of active and healthy living but also a meaningful fundraising initiative. All funds raised will go to the SVW Foundation, founded by Diazville-born Olympic medallist and HSBC SVNS World Champion, Shilton Van Wyk, a long-time beneficiary of the Sea Harvest Foundation, to promote important social development efforts within the local community and extend the impact of the event beyond race day.
“This event represents the beginning of something truly special. Through the Sea Harvest Foundation, Sea Harvest invests in initiatives that support education, youth development, health and wellness in local communities. Our sponsorship of the Saldanha Sea Harvest Foundation Health Run is designed to foster a spirit of inclusivity and shared purpose, bringing together employees, families, and the wider community in a vibrant and energetic setting within the Saldanha Bay municipal area, the home to Sea Harvest’s largest operational site. It allows us to create a sustainable platform that encourages healthier lifestyles while also supporting causes that make a real difference in people’s lives,” says Terence Brown, Chairperson of the Sea Harvest Foundation Not-for-Profit Company (NPC).
As the countdown enters its final phase, Brown is encouraging all participants to prepare for a memorable day that combines fitness, fun, and community development. Families attending the event can look forward to a fun-filled morning, including the chance to meet Sea Harvest’s Mealtime Heroes – Captain Crisp, Omega Mind and The Incredible Hake – as well as food stalls, family-friendly activities and exciting lucky draw prizes.
