The Sea Harvest Foundation’s mission is to ensure that community members have no difficulty in accessing basic health services, which is a human right. Over the past five years, more than R2 million has been invested in various initiatives, such as those listed below
Department of Social Development: A satellite Department of Social Development office in Saldanha Bay is sponsored by the Foundation to ensure that it is within the reach of the Saldanha Bay community.
Kids for Kids: Sea Harvest’s annual Kids for Kids initiative is aimed at raising funds for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The funds have been used to purchase a Giraffe Warmer machine, for building renovations and upgrades, to establish a Child Safe Centre and to ensure additional operating times for operations for patients on a waiting list.
Dental Clinic: Dr. Joseph Joshua is a former Foundation bursary recipient who, after completing his degree at the University of Western Cape, moved to the Netherlands. Every year he returns to South Africa to visit family and host a free dental clinic in the Saldanha Bay Municipal area for two weeks.
Hospital Kombi: Long-distance transport to medical facilities is provided for Sea Harvest employees and their immediate family members who live in rural areas.
